On Sunday, 15 March 2020, president Cyril Ramaphosa addressed the nation regarding COVID-19, announcing that a National State of Disaster has been implemented. As a way to minimise the spread of the disease, all gatherings of more than 100 people have been cancelled with immediate effect. In accordance with the Disaster Management Act, the organisers of the South Coast Bike Fest™ have announced that the event, scheduled to take place in Port Edward from Saturday, 25 to Monday, 27 April, has been cancelled. This was the second of five Bike Fest SA tours taking place in 2020.
The first stop on the Bike Fest™ tour transformed Jeffrey’s Bay into a rocking and riding festival as biking elite, families and general festival-lovers descended on the coastal town from 28 February to 1 March. Jeffrey’s Bay Bike Fest™, held in partnership with Kouga Municipality, was the ultimate start to Africa’s biggest biking festival this year.
The first 2020 Bike Fest™ stop has got off to a rocking start with bikers, music-lovers, leisure-seekers, families – and everyone in between – descending on Jeffrey’s Bay Bike Fest™ for a weekend of uninterrupted action and entertainment. Local talent was revealed at the Jeffrey’s Bay Bike Fest™ Talent Search Competition, after which audiences enjoyed legendary musical acts, quality food in the Ducati Food Village, high-end machinery at the Custom Bike Show and all-out extreme action at the Experiential Energy Zone. The annual Bike Fest, a flagship event of Ugu South Coast Tourism (USCT), will be returning to the South Coast from 25 to 27 April 2020. And this time, all the engine-revving action will take place at the scenic, tourist-friendly coastal town of Port Edward.
